Your first collection

What to bring the first time, and what comes back.

Bring one piece, not a whole season

The first run goes best on a job with an end: one collection, or one chapter of one. Start a collection in the app and give it something real to work from.

  • Un brief

Even a rough one. Who it is for, roughly what it costs to make, what it has to sit next to.

  • A sketch

Paper is fine. Photograph it and bring it in.

  • Something you have already made

Old work is read as evidence of how you decide, and it sharpens what it draws next.

Questions

The first time

How long does it take?

Directions come back in an afternoon. A three-page chapter, modelled and laid out, is a day's work rather than a fortnight's.

What does it cost to try?

A three-page chapter runs about A$8.50. A single question costs cents, and every answer carries its own price before you spend again.

Do I need DuoHand Bench for the first run?

Not to talk, sketch or argue. You need it the moment the work has to happen in Rhino or Illustrator on your own machine.
